14yo boy with disability lives tied to a rope for 12 years

NAWALPUR: A boy with disability has been living tied to a rope in his house at Dodeni, Bhujel Gaun of Gaidakot Municipality-3 for twelve years. During this time, the boy Madan Bhujel has not received any treatment and is living without his rights.

Madan's mother Bishnu Maya said, "We were compelled to tie him as he used to run haphazardly, beat neighbours' children and excreted everywhere, among others."

"Due to poverty we could not treat Madan on time; as a result, he lost his voice forever at the tender age of two and half years," Bishnu Maya shared her plight.

We are not in a position to afford Madan's treatment anymore as nothing is left in our disposal. We are making our living simply by relying on agriculture and selling wicker baskets, Bishnu Maya said referring to her poor economic status.

Despite our ordeal, we took Madan to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment but to no avail. No one heard Madan's plight, even the human right activists, Bishnu Maya lamented.

Madan's father Suk Bahadur remained optimistic that someday someone would offer help to treat his son.

Bhujel family had migrated to Dodeni of Nawalpur from Bhirthapla of Tanahun district some 10 years ago.
