15 hurt in clashes at SLC exam centres
Dang, March 30:
Fifteen persons were injured in separate clashes between students and police at several SLC examination centres across the country today.
Five students, including district secretariat member of ANNISU-R Purna Singh, were injured when local youths clashed with the police at the Janakalyan Secondary School centre at Padampur in Dang today.
The incident occurred when local youths tried to enter the exam centre to help the students appearing in the examination, the police said. The youths pelted stones at the police when they were barred from entering the examination centre. “We had to charge batons, use tear gas shells and fire three rounds in the air to disperse the youths,” the Khilatpur area police office said. Govinda BK, Roshan KC and Sudip Chand were among the injured.
Issuing a press statement, district chairman of ANNISU-R Ganesh Chaudhary protested the police suppression.
Meanwhile, seven persons, including five policemen, were injured when SLC examinees and police clashed at Shodasa Higher Secondary School examination centre in Mangalsen of Achham. Assistant superintendent at the centre Harka Bahadur Bista and examinee Anita Shahi were among the injured.
The condition of Shahi and head constable Jhan Bahadur Dhami is reported to be critical. The clash ensued after the students attacked the police for not allowing them to cheat in the exam, the police said.
