16 rape incidents in last 11 months

Sixteen rape incidents were reported in the last 11 months in Nawalpur.

Data revealed by the Informal Sector Service Centre, Nawalpur, showed that 16 girls were raped in the last 11 months.

The age group of the victims range from an eight-month-old baby to 17 years old girl. Of the 16 rape incidents, two cases were settled through court verdict while verdict is yet to be issued on the remaining 14 cases, according to INSEC representative Tirtha Raj Dumre. He said incidents of rape were alarming in Nawalpur.

In the same period, incidents of two sexual assaults and one acid attack were also reported.

A total of 64 cases of human rights violation were registered in the same period in the district.

Meanwhile, as many as 111 cases of human rights violations were reported in Nawalparasi in the last 11 months.

According to INSEC Nawalparasi representative Narayan Parajuli, 26 incidents of rape and attempted rape were reported in the district. The district registered 54 incidents of domestic violence in the same period.
