17 UDMF cadres held for obstructing UML function in Lahan
RAJBIRAJ: Police on Saturday arrested 17 cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front from Lahan of Siraha district while they tried to obstruct a function to be organised by the CPN-UML.
The UDMF had tried to block the main opposition party from organising a function in which the party was to welcome leaders and cadres of various parties into it.
But, police arrested the demonstrators including Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal district chairman Badal Yadav and leader Nabin Yadav.
They have been kept at the Lahan Area Police Office.
DSP Hira Bahadur Pandey of the APO said the arrest was made to prevent any untoward incident.
Despite the obstruction, the UML held the function in the presence of Politburo member Ramprit Paswan, Central Committee member Lila Nath Shrestha and lawmaker Ram Chandra Yadav.
