2.6 million got their eyes checked

Chief Minister of Province 4 Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that ensuring people’s access to health and education was the state’s responsibility.

Inaugurating the sub-specialist clinic on the silver jubilee celebration of Himalaya Eye Hospital, Pokhara, CM Gurung said the government of Province 4 was preparing for optimum utilisation of natural means and resources for prosperity of province.

Likewise, President of Nepal Netra Jyoti Assocaition Prof Dr Tirtha Prasad Mishra said that eight eye hospitals and 80 eye treatment centres established in Nepal provided eye care services to 90 per cent of the total patients.

Also speaking at the programme, Mayor of Pokhara-Lekhnath Municipality Man Bahadur GC said tourism development of Pokhara would be promoted if the hospital could attract patients from other provinces for treatment and for quality health care services.

Medical Superintendent of Himalaya Eye Hospital Dr Indra Maharjan said eye check-up of 2.6 million people of Gandaki, Dhaulagiri and Karnali was conducted while 200,000 patients had their eye surgeries done.
