2 choppers collide in Surkhet airstrip
SURKHET: A chopper belonging to Shree Airlines hit another chopper of Simrik Airlines in course of landing at Surkhet airport today afternoon.
According to Civil Aviation Office, Surkhet, the chopper of Shree Airlines had hit another chopper while it was being taken to the hanger from the runway. Both choppers were partly damaged in the incident. All the four passengers, along with other crew members, aboard the choppers are safe.
According to preliminary investigation of the CAO, the crew members had forcefully taken the chopper to the parking area though there was not space. Chief of Surkhet Airport Utsav Kharel said, “We have informed the central office about the incident,'' adding that a team from the centre will arrive here to start investigation into the incident from tomorrow.
There were ten aircrafts, including the choppers, in the parking lot at the time of incident. However, the capacity of the parking zone is just eight.
