2 dead, 3 critical as tanker plunges in Udayapur
KATHMANDU: Two persons died on the spot and three others sustained injuries after the fuel tanker they were travelling on plunged in Katari Municipality-11 of Udayapur district, on Tuesday night.
The deceased have been identified as driver Purna Prasad Khanal (23) of Amalekhganj Municipality-4 in Bara district and passenger Saroj Moktan (31) of Namatar in Makawanpur district; and injured as Subas Tamang (24) of Bhaktapur, Abhishek Shrestha (17) of Nijgadh in Bara and Sujan Gole (25) of Charikot in Dolakha.
According to police, the incident occurred when the fuel laden tractor (Na 6 Kha 3231) en route from Katari to Ghurmi lost its control and plunged around 1,000 metre below the road at 2:00 am yesterday, killing two and injuring three.
The critically injured are being rushed to a health facility in Kathmandu, informed Area Police Office, Katari.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
