2 dead as water tanker hits motorbike in Pokhara

KATHMANDU: Two persons died after the motorcycle they were travelling on was hit by a water tanker in Pokhara Metropolitan City-5 of Kaski district on Wednesday night.

Police have identified the deceased as motorcyclist Dhan Bahadur Chhantyal (24) of Baranja and pillion rider Brinda Thapa (25) of Dana, both in Myagdi district.

The incident occurred when the water tanker (Ga 1 Kha 2896) hit the motorcycle (Dha 1 Pa 5021) in Malepatan at 8:00 pm yesterday, critically injuring Chhantyal and Thapa, according to police.

Injured Thapa succumbed to her injuries on the way to Pokhara-based Western Regional Hospital while Chhantyal breathed his last at 5:00 am today at Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara, informed District Police Office, Kaski.

Meanwhile, police have impounded both vehicles and detained the tanker driver for further investigations, said police.
