2 dead, 9 hurt as bus turns turtle in Rupandehi

KATHMANDU: Two persons including an Indian national  died and nine others sustained injuries when a passenger bus they were travelling in turned turtle and fell in a ditch at Marchawar of Siddharthanagar in Rupandehi district on Sunday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Rohit Kahaar(50) of Siddharthanagar Municipality-11 and Umer Sahani (30) of Adda Bazaar in Uttar Pradesh of India.

According to Rupandehi District Police Office,the ill-fated bus (Lu 1 Kha 9596)  was heading towards Marchawar from Siddharthanagar when it met with the accident.

The duo, who were critically injured in the incident, were rushed to Bhim Hospital in Siddharthanagar. Upon reaching the hospital, doctors had pronounced them dead, informed Rupandehi DPO.

Other injured have been undergoing treatment at the Universal Medical College of the district.

The incident occurred at around 6 this evening. Around 40 passengers were travelling on the bus, said the DPO.

Police have impounded the vehicle. The bus driver, however, fled the scene after the incident.

Police are searching for him and investigating into the case.
