2 hurt as gas bullet plunges in Tanahun

DAMAULI: Two persons were injured after a gas bullet fell below the road in Byas Municipality-12 along the Damauli-Dumre road section of Prithvi Highway in Tanahun district on Wednesday morning.

The injured has been identified as driver Chotulal Rumar (22) and driver's assistant Nitesh Kumar (21), both Indian nationals.

According to police, the gas bullet (MLO 1 AA O 1) was en routeĀ from Haldibari of India to Gagangauda of Kaski district when it lost control and plunged around 50 metres below the road in Kamalwari today morning.

The bullet was ferrying 18-tonne gas to Shakti Gas Company in Kaski when it met with the accident, informed police.

Meanwhile, security personnel have been deployed at the incident area and are in high alert in case of an explosion, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Umer Raj Joshi.

Police have sent out a circular asking local residents to stay away from the site and refrain from using inflammable objects including matchsticks and lighter, SP Joshi said while adding that fire engines from the municipality have been kept standby and electricity has been cut off to prevent any kind of explosion.

In the meantime, a team of technicians from the gas company are already on their way to empty the bullet.

It has been learnt that Chief District Officer Bharat Kumar Sharma and SP Umer Raj Joshi have visited the incident site.
