2 killed, 1 hurt in Saptari accident
RAJBIRAJ: Two persons were killed and another sustained injuries after the motorcycle they were riding on slammed into a static tractor on the roadside near Raipur-8, along the East-West Highway, in Saptari on Tuesday night.
Police said Anandi Sardar (38) of Sambhunath Municipality-7 died on the spot whereas the pillon riders Ashok Sardar (36) of Tarhaute-5 in the district died during the course of treatment at Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
Similarly, Santosh Chaudary (25) of Tarhaute-6 sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at the same facility.
The motorcycle (Sa 6 Pa 6974) heading to the west from east along the East-West Highway had slammed into the parked tractor (Sa 1 Ta 2634) at around 8 pm yesterday.
After the incident, locals rescued the injured and sent them to Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj for treatment; while they were later referred to the Dharan-based institution.
Sub-Inspector Umesh Yadav said they have impounded the vehicle for further investigation.
