KATHMANDU: At least two persons died on the spot and one sustained injuries when a Scorpio jeep rammed into a tree in Sundarharaincha Municipality of Morang district on Sunday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Kumar Rai (32) of Pathati Sanischare Municipality-2 and Bimala Rai (21) of Kankai Municipality in Jhapa district.

The jeep (Ba 16 Cha 4757) that was heading towards east from Morang rammed into the tree due to speeding at around 4:30 am this morning, said Rastriya Samachar Samiti quoting Inspector Ramji Katuwal as saying.

Similarly, Renu Rai (18), however, sustained injuries and was rushed to Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

The driver of the vehicle has not made contact with the authorities. Police believe the driver could also have been injured in the accident.
