2 killed, 30 injured in Dhading multiple-vehicle collision

DHADING: At least two persons lost their lives and 30 others sustained injuries as multiple-vehicle collided at Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 of Dhading district along Prithvi Highway on Sunday.

District Police Office, Dhading identified the deceased as Shyam Kumar Shrestha (27) of Mahadevisthan-8 in the district and a woman in her early twenties, whose identity is yet to be ascertained.

According to DPO Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rupak Khadka, 18 persons have been referred to Kathmandu after receiving primary treatment at Highway Hospital in Malekhu.

Likewise, seven injured persons are undergoing treatment at Gajuri hospital and two others are receiving treatment at Charaudi Hospital.

The incident occurred after a bus (Lu 1 Kha 9079) heading to Chitwan from Kathmandu and two micro-buses (Ba 3 Kha 1004, Ba 2 Kha 4567) coming from the opposite direction collided, killing two persons on the spot around 11:00 today, police said.

Police have detained the driver of one of the micro-buses (Ba 3 Kha 1004) -- Robin Khadka (27) of Madhyabindu Municipality in Nawalparasi district -- at Jogimara Police Post for further investigation and action.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
