2 killed, 5 injured in snow slide
BANKE: Two persons were killed and five others injured after they were buried in a snow slide. The dead are identified as Chhabi Buda (16) and Jokhe Budha (37) of Shera VDC-6.
According to Ghanashyam Khadka, Deputy Superintendent of Police in Humla, the victims were returning from Bajura with the essentials for home, when they were buried in the snow. A group of seven returning from Bajura with essentials was caught in the snow slide at Shreenagar VDC. The area is at five days walk from the district headquarters. DSP Khadka said though the accident had taken place last Wednesday, they only knew about it today.
According to DPO Humla, the injured are Hira Budha (60) and Indra Budha (17) of Shera-6, Barma Budha, Jana Budha (18), Lakshya Buda (16) of Shera-4. Indra Budha is reported to be in critical condition. He has sustained foot injuries. Humla police said that it was not possible to take out the dead bodies as the bodies were lying over a cliff. DSP Khadka said that a police team has been deployed at the incident site to rescue the stranded persons.
The normal life of Humla district has been adversely affected due to heavy snowfall. The locals can not come out of their houses as there is 3-feet snow in the area. Education institutions in the district have remained shut while air transport services have came to a grinding halt since a week.
