DAMAK: Two persons were killed and another one was injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a scooter in Kamal Rural Municipality-5 of Jhapa district on Thursday evening.

The deceased have been identified as the motorcyclist Rajan Khadka (25) of Damak-9 and scooter rider Sunil Subedi (28) of Damak-5. Police also identified the injured as scooter pillion rider Subash Niraula (27) of Damak-6.

The accident occurred when the motorcycle (Ko 15 Pa 8433) and the scooter (Me 4 Pa 3524) collided head-on at the Padajungi section of the East-West Highway fatally injuring the riders, at around 6:00 pm yesterday, according to the Area Police Office, Damak.

Khadka and Subedi succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital in Damak.

Meanwhile, critically injured Niraula has been referred to the Dharan-based Koirala Institute of Health Sciences from the Damak-based local hospital. He is said to be in serious condition.
