GAIGHAT: Two persons have gone missing after a boat capsized in the Sunkoshi River, on the border of Sunsari and Udayapur districts, on Tuesday.

As many as 13 people on board the boat were able to swim to the bank after the boat overturned while crossing the River at around 12 pm today.

SP Tek Bahadur Gurung, the chief of District Police Office, said police teams from Udayapur and Sunsari have launched search and rescue operations.

One of the missing has been identified as Rita Chandrabanshi (25) from Papeshwori VDC-1 of Udayapur, while the identity of the other yet to be known.

As many as 15 persons were on the boat while crossing the mighty river from Prakashpur of Sunsari to Bhagalpur of Udayapur.
