2 seriously hurt in motorcycle accident in Udayapur

KATHMANDU: Two persons have sustained serious injuries after the two-wheeler they were riding on careened off the cliff and veered into a gorge at Gumba Danda in Katari Municipality-3 of Udayapur district, this afternoon, police said.

According to the Udayapur District Police Office (DPO), 20-year-old motorcyclist Sagar Magar and 18-year-old pillion rider Samir Tamang have sustained serious injuries in the incident.

It has been learned that both the eyes of Magar bulged out after the accident, while Tamang sustained head injury.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Meg Raj Adhikari at the DPO said, "After preliminary treatment at the Katari Hospital, both have been referred to Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital for further treatment."

The motorcycle (Sa 7 Pa 9218) was heading to Katari from Mirchaiya in the district, before the incident.

The reason behind the accident is said to be over speeding along steep slope of the road, after which the motorcycle lost control and plunged into the gorge, police informed.

Meanwhile, investigation into the case is underway.
