Chitwan Police have arrested two men with 20 kg of suspected charas (cannabis resin) in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-4, officials said on Thursday.
According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, the arrests were made at around 1:00 am on Thursday based on a tip-off. A police team from the Area Police Office, Muglin, intercepted and searched the suspects while they were walking along the road.
The arrested have been identified as Mohan Gole, 42, of Thaha Municipality-11, Makwanpur, and Bhim Bahadur Syangtan, 31, of Ramechhap.
Police said the two were carrying backpacks containing 40 packets of a substance resembling charas, packed in yellow tape. Each suspect was found carrying 20 packets, weighing 10 kg each, bringing the total seizure to 20 kg.
The suspects have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway under the Narcotic Drugs (Control) Act, police said.
