2,000 people to get training for reconstruction

KATHMANDU: The Small and Cottage Industries Development Committee plans to train around 2,000 people to carry out the reconstruction of the quake-ravaged structures in the 10 districts worst-hit by the April 25 earthquake.

The Committee will invest Rs 30 million to prepare the skilled human resources for reconstruction of the ravaged structures in Sindhupalchok, Nuwakot, Okhaldhunga, Rasuwa, Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahun, Lamjung, Ramechhap and Sindhuli districts.

The April 25 earthquake and its aftershocks caused big damages to houses, buildings and roads in the worst-hit districts.

The Committee would provide training and produce masons, carpenters, plumbers, beauticians, hair-dressers and electricians, said Chief Director of the Committee, Dhanaraj Pant.

The training would be of three months and would be started from the beginning of the next fiscal year 2015/16.
