21 per cent of people are still living below the poverty line

Kavre, September 1

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota today said that the country was moving towards prosperity.

Addressing a programme at Kavre’s Banepa, Minister Baskota, who is also the government’s spokesperson, urged the people to have patience as development and prosperity could not be achieved overnight.

“A newborn cannot walk the day it is born. It takes time for the child to be able to walk. So is the case with the government. Be assured that a stable government has been formed. Development and prosperity will be achieved under this government,” he added.

Stressing maximum utilisation of natural resources, Minister Baskota said foreign grants and loans would not help materialise the dream of ‘Happy Nepalis, prosperous Nepal’. “This dream cannot translate into reality unless we generate our own capital for development,” Baskota stated.

Minister Baskota said that many big and ambitious projects were under way and people had to keep patience to see them materialise. He also rued the fact that 21 per cent people in Nepal were still living under the poverty line.
