22 maimed during conflict in Dhankuta

Dhankuta, June 24:

The Dhankuta district administration office (DAO) today said that 22 persons were left handicapped in the district during the armed conflict.

In a report released today, the DAO said the 22 were handicapped during clashes between security personnel and Maoists, explosion of bombs planted by the Maoists and action of security personnel.

Former assistant CDO of Dhankuta, Parba Prasad Sapkota, was also hurt during the insurgency, it said. According to the report, the list of handicapped includes three policemen. Two persons were maimed in blasts. The bombs were left by the Maoists. Two persons became handicapped after Maoists blew up a bus, while one person was injured in the action of the security personnel.

The report was prepared at the request of the DPO, parties and NGOs and sent to the Home Ministry, Dhankuta chief district officer Nava Raj Upadhyaya said. The report has not included number of Maoists hurt in the action of security personnel.
