23 arrested from Jhapa for electricity theft
JHAPA: As many as 23 people, including three women, were arrested for their alleged involvement in electricity theft from various locations of Jhapa, on Wednesday.
The Nepal Electricity Authority, Antarmani Distribution Centre, along with a team from the Birtamode Area Police Office nabbed the accused with electrical equipment including water lifting motors and electric metres.
The NEA Antarmani Chief Rajib Kumar Singh informed that the arrestees were using their equipment by connecting the wires hooked into the transmission line.
The NEA had launched a campaign on October 27 to check the increasing power theft in Jhapa.
