26 journos held, freed

BIRGUNJ: Parsa police on Wednesday arrested 26 journalists when they defied the riot-hit area order and staged a peaceful rally expressing solidarity with Madhes agitation in Birgunj. Police held the journalists when the rally led by Vice-chairman of Parsa Chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists reached Maisthan Chowk.

Parsa chapter FNJ Vice-chairman Dhruba Sah, National Photo Journalists’ Group’s central Cice-chairman Ram Sarraf were among the arrested. They were kept at District Traffic Police Office, Parsa. All of them were freed two hours later. Dhruba Sah said that they had taken out a rally to protest police oppression of the agitation.
