266 new Covid-19 cases registered on Sunday; nationwide tally hits 267,322

KATHMANDU: Nepal on Sunday reported 266 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 267,322.

Of the total cases, 91 are females while 175 are males.

In the last 24 hours, 177 cases surfaced in Kathmandu valley. The capital hosts the highest number of active cases.

Likewise, 400 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry. As of today, 261,444 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 97.8 per cent.

Nepal’s active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 3,919.

Meanwhile, five more fatalities from the disease have taken the total death-toll to 1,959.

According to the health ministry, 3,508 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,012,452 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 221 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

Globally, more than 94.5 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.02 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19. Likewise, over 66.5 million people have recovered from the disease and over 24 million cases are still active.

On Saturday, Nepal’s coronavirus case count reached 267,056 with 240 newly confirmed cases.
