Six killed in Kailali road accidents

DHANGADHI: Six persons were killed and 24 injured in different road accidents in various places of Kailali in the past 24 hours.

Three individuals were killed when a bus met with an accident at Dhapeni of Chure Rural Municipality-3 in Kailali today morning.

Police identified the deceased as Jhunti Devi Chand, 64, Kabita Tiwari, 24, and Rewati Bhat, 19. Two critically injured passengers have been sent to Halduwani in India for treatment. Twenty-two injured persons are being treated at Attariya-based Padma Hospital.

The bus headed for Dadeldhura from Attariya had fallen 100 metres below the road.

Police head constable Gajendrasingh Thagunna, who was riding a motorbike was killed when a jeep hit the bike he was riding at Gauriganga Municipality in Kailali last night.

Similarly, a woman was killed in a motorbike accident at Godawari Municipality in Kailali on last night. Lalita Joshi, 35, who was riding pillion, was killed after the motorbike went out of control due to overspeeding.

Likewise, tractor driver Pradip Chaudhary, 21, was killed when his tractor overturned at Pathraiya of Janaki Rural Municipality in Kailali last night.

3 killed, 24 injured in Kailali bus fall

DHANGADHI:  At least three persons died and 24 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus fell some 100 metres below the road at Dhapeni of Chure Rural Municipality in Kailali district this morning.

According to Khanidanda Area Police Office, the deceased have been identified as Jhunti Devi Chand (64) and Kabita Tiwari (24) of Baitadi and Rewati Bhat (19).

Of the injured, two persons have been rushed to Halduwani in India for treatment.

Remaining 22 are undergoing treatment at the Attariya-based Padma Hospital.

The bus (Na 7 Kha 2723) heading towards Bhimduttanagar from Melauli of Baitadi fell off the road at around 5:00 am this morning.

Police are looking into the case
