MALANGAWA: Three fishermen were killed when a tripper (Na 1 Kha 2411) loaded with rocks hit them in Karmaiya VDC 1, Sarlahi on Monday night at 12pm.

The deceased have been identified as Tohin Sahini, 50, and Raman Sahini, 30, residents of Gairikhuti VDC 6, Rautahat and Sonilal Sahani, 40, resident of Paurahi VDC 3 of Rautahat.

According to the police, they were sleeping in the yard of a house when the incident occurred. They added that they were fishing till late at night on the banks of Bagmati River and had been resting. The remains of the deceased have been taken to Malangawa District Hospital for postmortem on Tuesday morning.

Police have taken the tripper into custody. However, the driver managed to flee.
