ILAM: Three people have been arrested by the police in Ilam for illegal electrofishing in the local Deumai stream.

They were caught red-handed today from the Gajurmukhi VDC while fishing with the use of batteries at local Deumai stream.

The arrested are Jeevan Rai (20) and Tej Bahadur Rai (43) of Godak-2 and Som Bahadur Limbu of Godak-1, Ilam District Police Office's Inspector Rudra Chudal said.

Police are preparing to file a case under the Aquatic Animal Protection Act, 1960.
