SARLAHI, JUNE 20

Three individuals were killed and 18 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a stationary Indian freight lorry at Rayamajhi Chowk in Bagmati Municipality-11 on Thursday morning.

According to the police, the incident occurred when a passenger bus (Lu. 1 Kha. 8848) traveling from Bhairahawa to Janakpur collided with the Indian lorry (registration number NL 01 AH 9252) parked along the East-West Highway, killing three.

The deceased have been identified as Haribahadur Chaudhary, Dashrath Kahar (85), and Ramkaran Kewat (50), all from Mayadevi Rural Municipality in Rupandehi, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Shrestha, spokesperson for the Sarlahi District Police Office.

Following the accident, the injured were promptly rescued and taken to Hariban-based Namuna Hospital, where doctors declared the three individuals dead upon arrival.

The bus, which was heading to Janakpur from Rupandehi, had 40 passengers on board at the time of the incident.

DSP Shrestha stated that those who sustained serious injuries are currently receiving treatment at hospitals in Janakpur, Birgunj, and local medical facilities.
