3 killed, 8 injured in Doti jeep accident

BAJURA: At least three persons died and eight other sustained injuries when the jeep they were travelling on met with an accident in KI Singh Rural Municipality-3 of Doti district on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Anita Khadka (19), of Adarsha Rural Municipality-1, jeep driver Khemraj Ojha (55), of KI Singh Rural Municipality-1 and Roshan Tamrakar (25), of Bogtan Rural Municipality-6 in the district, according to the District Police Office, Doti.

The jeep (Se 1 Ja 2065) was en route to Dipayal from KI Singh Rural Municipality of the district when it met with an accident at Deurali today, killing three on the spot and injuring eight others, informed police.

The injured were rushed toward various medical institutions in the district for treatment, with condition of Hemraj Ojha (24), of KI Singh Rural Municipality-1, Hansu Khadka (45), and Sarita Khadka (13), of Adarsha Rural Municipality-1 being critical, informed Doti DPO.

Of the critically injured, two have been sent to Nepalgunj for further treatment.

Earlier, a team of police personnel and another team comprising Minister for Physical Planning and Transport, Bir Bahadur Balayer had headed towards the incident site for the rescue operation.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
