Udayapur bus accident: Death toll reaches four

UDAYAPUR: The death toll in the pilgrims' bus accident at Chanaute of Udayapur district on Friday reached four.

A critically injured 11-year-year-old boy Dipesh Ram died while undergoing treatment at the Katari Hospital, police said.

Meanwhile, the critically injured driver Lagan Paswan has been rushed to Biratnagar for further treatment, according to police.

Meanwhile, a new consignment of medicines has been sent to the Katari Hospital, police said.

 3 pilgrims killed in Udayapur bus accident

UDAYAPUR:  At least three persons died and 29 others were injured when a bus carrying pilgrims met with an accident at Chanaute in Lekhani-6 of Udayapur district in Eastern Nepal on Friday.

Two among the deceased have been identified as Saraswati Devi Ram (60) and Kusum Devi Ram (33) of Madhupatti, Saptari.

The bus (Ba 4 Kha 3620) was returning from Halesi Mahadev (holy site) in Khotang when the incident took place at around 9:30 am.

According to SP Nara Bahadur KC of the District Police Office, Udayapur, Dipesh Ram and driver Lagan Paswan were critically injured in the incident.

KC added that all the injured are receiving treatment at the Katari Hospital.

There were 42 persons on board the ill-fated bus when the incident occurred.

A police team from the Area Police Office, Katari, has already reached the incident site to carry out rescue operation.
