3 more climbers conquer Mount Everest

KATHMANDU: Three more mountaineers successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest today, bringing the total number of ascent to 45 since the start of this year's climbing season.

Two Nepali nationals and a foreigner scaled the highest peak of the world today, Department of Tourism, Mountaineering Section Chief, Gyanendra Shrestha, told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti from the Everest Base Camp.

Chhiring Temba Sherpa and Phu Temba Sherpa from Nepal, and a Swedish national named Daniel successfully scaled the Everest today, according to Shrestha.

Shrestha added that many other climbers had reached the Camp IV, which is near the summit of the mountain, but returned to the lower base due to high winds today.

The climbers are expected to resume their journey tonight.

A total of 1,432 mountaineers from 97 expedition teams of various countries have arrived in Nepal to climb the Mt Everest among other mountains in the Himalayan Range this year.

Among them 34 will make their attempts to climb the Mt Everest.
