30 bandh enforcers held

As many as 30 bandh enforcers were arrested from different places during today’s general strike.

Various parties and groups including Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist, Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist, and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal had enforced a general strike to protest the promulgation of the statute.

A group of 12 bandh enforcers set a truck ablaze near Ghansikuwa along the Prithivi Highway in Tanahun.

SP Mohan Kumar Acharya said bandh organisers sprinkled petrol on the truck and torched it. Truck driver Dhal Bahadur Ale Magar said that the front part of the truck including its engine was completely damaged. Police had doused the fire and prevented complete damage to the truck.

Police arrested 24 people for trying to disrupt vehicular movement at various places in Pokhara and Lekhnath. They have been kept in custody of Kaski district police.

Among the arrested are Federal Socialist Party Kaski Chairman Ganesh Man Gurung, central leader Pan Bahadur Gharti.

Lamjung police caught six persons while they were trying to enforce bandh in Besisahar. Among the arrested are Federal Socialist Forum Nepal’s central member Khemjung Gurung, CPN Maoist Kaski Chair Mohanhari Paudel and Secretary Abiral Neupane.
