32 huts pulled down


Kapilvastu: The huts built by the landless squatters encroaching the community forest area at Patthardeiya -8 in Devpura, have been pulled down under the direction of the local administration. According to District Forest Office, the DFO employees, police personnel and the members of the community forest consumer committee jointly pulled down 32 houses built illegally in the forest area. Harka Bahadur Rawal, SP, Armed Police Force, said that the police personnel of the APF were sent to the area as the DFO had requested for help. The landless squatters had started to build their huts since last week. District Forest Officer Prakash Nath Pyakurel said that the houses had to be pulled down forcefully with the direction and cooperation of district administration, as the squatters had not obeyed their direction.
