Absconding accused SSP Khatri surrenders, statement being recorded

BIRATNAGAR: One of the prime suspects in the 33.5 kg gold scam, Senior Superintendent of Police Shyam Khatri, who had been absconding, surrendered before the Morang district court today.

SSP Khatri's statement is currently being recorded at the district court, informed Superintendent of Morang District Police, Arun Kumar BC.

Khatri surrendered under a provision of an absconding accused providing statement at the court, SP BC informed. "What happens next depends on the course of developments now. If the statement recording ends today and the court orders arrest, we will take Khatri into custody," SP BC stated further.

SSP Khatri had been out of contact after being summoned by a special investigation team formed by the government to investigate into the gold smuggling and Sanam Shakya murder case.
