36 schools merged in Gorkha after April 25 earthquake

GORKHABAZAAR: As many as 36 public schools have been merged in Gorkha district after the April 25 ‘Gorkha Earthquake’.

The District Education Officer at the District Education Office, Hari Prasad Aryal said that the schools having very few students in the adjoining areas were merged under the School Merge Policy, 2070 BS.

As many as 68 teachers have been transferred to different schools where there are large numbers of the students, the Office said.

Aryal added that they faced various problems to run the academic institutions as they were established in the remote areas where students were found unwilling to go to the schools.

The main reasons of school merger include less number of students, geographical remoteness and inattention of the parents.
