KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 18

The National Examinations Board (NEB) has announced that this year's Grade 12 examinations will commence from Baisakh 14, with around 360,000 regular students set to appear nationwide.

Controller of Examinations Krishna Sharma said the Board has published the schedule covering general, traditional and technical streams under both new and old curricula, along with grade improvement examinations. The examinations will be conducted from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and are scheduled to conclude on Baisakh 27.

On the opening day, candidates will sit for Compulsory English under both the new and old courses, including grade improvement examinations. The same day will also see examinations for Sanskrit Composition, Buddhist Education and Urdu Grammar (new course), as well as Compulsory Alternative Sanskrit Composition under the old curriculum.

The Board has clarified that no re-examination will be arranged for students who fail to attend their scheduled exams. It further stated that even if an unforeseen public holiday falls within the examination period, exams will not be postponed unless prior notice is issued by the Office of the Controller of Examinations.

Grade 12 examinations mark a crucial stage in Nepal's secondary education system, determining eligibility for higher studies. This year's figure of 360,000 regular examinees represents a decrease compared to last year, when 396,347 regular and 114,640 partial students appeared. In 2025, the examinations began on Baisakh 21 and concluded on Jestha 2.

The Board is expected to issue further logistical details, including examination centres and operational guidelines, through official channels.
