4 held for hostage-taking in Chitwan
CHITWAN: Four persons were arrested from Bharatpur of Chitwan on charge of holding two persons hostage in assorted cases.
Dhananjaya Paudel (20) from Bharatpur Sub-Metropolitan City-20 was abducted and taken hostage by three persons recently, according to police.
Police arrested Rama Paudel (42) of Bharatpur-4, Dhruva Khadka (35) of Bharatpur-10 and Krishna Lama (36) of Bharatpur-8 on charge of abducting him, DSP Rajan Adhikari said at a press conference at the District Police Office today.
He suspected that Dhananjaya was kidnapped over some financial discord.
Police meanwhile freed the victim.
In a similar case, Bimal Thapa Magar (26) from Khairahani Municipality-4 was arrested for holding a truck driver and his assistant hostage, demanding a sum of money from them.
Magar's gang had taken the duo around six kilometres away the East-West Highway in a jungle and help hostage after seizing their belongings.
The victims were heading to Sarlahi from Kapilvastu on their truck (Na 5 Kha 7586) to supply some oxen.
They were stopped at the local Pampha Khola in Rapti Municipality-7.
Police said two other suspects involved in the second case are still on the run.
