42 children with HIV in Nawalparasi
PARASI: A statistic has revealed that some 42 children are living with HIV in Nawalparasi district.
The number includes 21 male child and 21 female, shared Lumbini Plus, an organisation working in the area of HIV in the district.
The data disclosed that some 494 HIV-infected in Nawalparasi including 243 males and 251 females have so far made public their identity.
Lumbini Plus Chairperson Nirmala Poudel said that many people with HIV are still hesitant to come to public in a confident manner due to social misconducts.
Among the infected, daily 254 are taking antiretroviral drugs to prolong their life.
According to the organisation, so far 83 people have lost their lives in the district due to HIV infection.
The Lumbini Plus shared that the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) service has been provided from 21 health facilities while HIV testing service is being rendered from eight units in the district
