435 litres of local hooch destroyed in Tanahun

TANAHUN: Four hundred and thirty five litres of locally produced hooch seized from hotels in Bhanu Municipality in Tanahun district has been destroyed by locals in presence of security personnel on Wednesday.

Sub-Inspector of Police Dambar Bahadur Thapa, in-charge of Purkot Police Post in Tanahun said, "The local alcohol was seized from hotels along Dumre-Besishahar road section in the area."

Thapa further said that the seized locally brewed alcohol was destroyed in presence of political parties' representatives, local representatives, women's group, and journalists on the premises of the police post, today.

Sub-Inspector Thapa further claimed that police are trying to declare Purkot as hooch-free zone in the district.

Likewise, Tanahun District Police Office Chief Siddhi Bikram Shah said, police are committed to maintain peace and harmony in the district.

Police have intensified checks at all the places in the district, increased patrol team during day and night, controlled driving under the influence of alcohol in the district among others, Shah added.

Similarly, police have intensified their operation against drug smuggling to maintain social discipline in the district.
