PM Deuba stresses on timely elections for constitution implementation

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba addressing Gaura Festival, said Nepal would strive in development paths after successfully holding all elections for the implementation of Constitution and Federalism, in Tundikhel, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.

As per the constitutional requirement, Nepal should hold all tiers of local polls including Provincial and Parliamentary elections by January 21, 2018.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also said the Detail Project Report (DPR) of Pancheswar and Mahakali projects would be finalised in a month, would bring drastic changes in the development of the Far and Mid-Western Development Region.

NC leader Deuba also clarified that he had not stuck any deal with the Indian counterpart Narendra Modi during his recent state visit to India.

PM Deuba had left to India leading 48-member delegation, as his first foreign state visit after assuming office on June 6, at the invitation of PM Modi.

PM Deuba also shared that his five-day state visit to India was successful as it has helped to enhance economic and diplomatic ties.

He further said that he had done nothing wrong by speaking about the constitution amendment bill at a joint press conference with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi held last week in New Delhi.

Instead, he shared Indian PM Modi congratulated Nepal for successfully holding local levels.

NC President Deuba said all levels of elections would be held on stipulated time for the implementation of federalism and constitution in the Country. He also urged that the elections would be held at any cost.

PM Deuba also said that he also raised the issue of the inundation in the Terai region with his Indian counterpart.

On the occasion, PM Deuba lauded Gaura Festival and urged all to preserve the traditional as it has united people living in hilly and Terai region in the mid-western and far-western region.

NC Central Working Committee Member and former Minister for Infrastructure Development and Transport Management Ramesh Lekhak speaking at the same programme stressed on the unity among Nepalis living in Terai and Hilly region for the development of Nation.

NC leader Lekhak on the occasion, urged all to be united as it in the need of the hour.

Similarly, NC leader and former Irrigation Minister NP Saud said that festivals like Gaura festival should be celebrated with fevour as it has helped to bind all walks of life. He also stressed on the need of organising Gaura Festival in Pokhara, Dharan and Biratnagar among other cities in Nepal.

He further said that Gaura Devi would provide eternal power to leaders representing far-western region for the development of region as it lacks way behind in term of development.

Likewise, Energy Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi stressed on the preservation of traditional culture as it helps for the development of the locality and nation as a whole.

Gaura Festival is celebrated in Mid-Western and Far-Western Region in Nepal.
