47 of marriage party hurt in mishap

Chitwan, April 27:

Forty-seven people, who were taking part in a before-marriage procession, were hurt when their vehicle turned turtle near Belsi Bridge of Ratnanagar in Chitwan district on the East-West highway today. The bride, Swastika Gautam, was among the injured.

The vehicle was headed to Harihar temple, where the marriage was to be solemnised.

Police said Gautam’s left hand got fractured, adding that most of the others sustained head injuries. One of the injured is being treated in Bharatpur Hospital, while 46 are being treated in Bharatpur Medical College. According to doctors, two of the injured are in serious condition.
