KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 21

Nepal recorded 470 new coronavirus infections in last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally to 807,522, while the death toll climbed to 11,326 with eight fatalities today.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 784,881 with 726 discharges logged today.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 8,549 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 6,586 were PCR tests while 1,963 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,350,226 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 75 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests totals to 545.

The highest number of infections were recorded in the capital with 147 cases today, while Lalitpur s second in line with 51 cases and Rupandehi third with 35 cases.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.2 %, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 11,315 against 11,579 a day before.

Currently, there are 225 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

Globally, over 242 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.9 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 220 million people have recovered while more than 17 million cases are still active.
