48 hurt in road mishaps

Forty-eight people were injured in road mishaps that occurred in Palpa and Dang yesterday and today.

Eleven passengers were injured when a jeep heading towards Tansen from Khanigaun met with an accident near the Mission Hospital in Tansen-10 today. The injured are undergoing treatment in the Mission Hospital. The condition of two of the injured passengers is critical, said hospital sources. In another incident, the helper of a bus heading towards Butwal from Tansen was injured when the bus met with an accident near Jhumsa in Palpa today, said the Palpa District Traffic Office.

Thirty-six persons were injured when a passenger bus heading towards Mahendranagar from Butwal met with an accident at Kaptangunj of Satbariya VDC yesterday, a report from Dang said. Ten of the injured passengers are in a critical condition, said the area police office at Lamahi. A police patrol and a posse of the Maoist Jana Sena rescued the injured and sent them to Nepalgunj for treatment. Those suffering from minor injuries have left for their destinations, said police.
