5 held in mysterious death of teen girl in Parsa

BIRGUNJ: As many as five persons including victim's father have been arrested after a teenage girl was found buried in mysterious circumstances inside the Parsa National Park on Thursday.

The body of 15-year-old Niduwa Dhagar of Jirabhawani Rural Municipality-1 in Parsa district was extracted with the help of sniffer dog yesterday, police said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) at the Parsa District Police Office Ganesh Regmi said " Victim's father Budan Dhagar, local Muni Lal Dhagad and other three women were apprehended in connection to the murder."

Regmi further said after preliminary investigation police have suspected that the teenager might have been murdered before being buried in the jungle. The site is said to be 10 kilometres north-west of Subarpur Chok in Thori Rural Municipality in the district.

Later, police then intensified vigilance after rumors spread in the village of girl being buried inside the park.

The family had claimed to have buried the body after the girl had committed suicide by hanging from tree inside the park, according to police.

Earlier, the teenager had gone to collect woods from the nearby jungle before she went missing on March 06. Likewise, police have also recovered a rope two kilometres away from the site.

Meanwhile, police said an investigation is underway.
