KALAIYA: Authorities have seized and destroyed around 5,000 chickens imported without getting a clearance certificate from the customs point in Jeetpur-Simara Sub-metropolitan City of Bara district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Armed Police Force (APF) deployed from the base camp in Jitpur seized the broiler chickens being transported by mini truck (Na 5 Kha 6509) from Birgunj to Narayangadh, at Gadhimai Chok, according to APF Inspector Ram Bahadur Basnet.

Inspector Basnet also informed that the chickens were imported from India evading tax.

The APF also detained the motorcycle (Na 63 Pa 5900) that was escorting the minitruck laden with contraband chickens, police informed.

The seized chickens were buried on the premises of the APF base camp.
