51 Baitadi families displaced after land caves in

BAITADI: As many as 51 families living in Dandankhali of Talladehi VDC -8 in Baitadi district have been displaced after the land in their locality caved in, following incessant rainfall on Saturday.  

It has been reported that the land caved in around 1.5 feet down after many cracks surfaced.

"All locals of the village are compelled to live in fearful environment." said Rana Bahadur Bohora, a local.

A team including police, representatives from the Nepal Red Cross Society and volunteers of different organisations has been deployed in the village for rescue, informed the District Administration Office.

All the settlements of the village could be relocated to a safer place after the technical team completed study, said Acting Chief District Officer Deep Kumar Acharya.

Meanwhile, a torrential rainfall-triggered landslide has swept away three houses in the village.
