Majhagaun of Swamikartik Rural Municipality received cracks due to the unseasonal rainfall last year in Bajura.
As many as 51 houses of the village are at a high risk of landslide.
Lank Bahadur BK, a local, said the villagers panic when they see dark coulds in the sky. He added that there was a lake below the village and landslide above the village had forced people to take safety measures. Locals said that they were compelled to go to the nearby Muktikot Basic Level School when it started to rain. BK said a landslide occurred in the middle of the village last year and the village received cracks. He said the land in the village and surroundings received the cracks.
Some of the villagers took shelter in the school at night.
The village lies in one of the remote areas of Bajura. The people in the village are impoverished.
They face acute food crisis throughout the year. According to the rural municipality, as many as 300 villagers of 51 families are at high risk of food crisis. Children, elderly and women, among other target groups, have been facing problems. Locals said that the Dalit families could not receive relief materials even though they were at high risk.
Rural municipality Chairman Bharat Bahadur Rokaya said that some of the families would come to school for shelter. He said that the whole village is at high risk of natural disaster. He said that the rural municipality could not find proper land to relocate victims.
