56 rights violation cases in Tanahun

Tanahun, January 25:

A total of 416 people of Tanahun district have been affected in 56 incidents of human rights violation in the last one year.

The incidents of human rights violation occurred from January 1 till December 31 of 2006, it was informed at a press conference organised by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Tanahun in Damauli yesterday.

Altogether 53 persons were affected in 17 incidents of human rights violation committed by State while 366 persons were affected in 31 incidents of human rights violation by the Maoists.

Similarly, eight persons were affected in eight incidents of rights violation by other sides, district representative of the INSEC Prakash Chandra Bhattarai said.

In the period of one year, six persons were killed in five incidents of human rights violation committed by State, Maoists and other sides. Similarly, 14 persons were injured in seven

different incidents. A total of 32 persons were affected in police interference during the Janaandolan II in the district.
