KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 12

The government is preparing to observe the 57th National Children's Day on September 14 with the theme 'Protection of child rights, our collective responsibility'.

This information was shared by the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens and the National Child Rights Council at Singha Durbar today. The Day will mark the sharing of thematic efforts and achievements regarding the protection and promotion of child rights.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will send greetings on the occasion while Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate a virtual programme to be organised by the Main Celebration Committee.

Three to two-minute video clips titled 'Child Rights in Federal Nepal' adjudged the best will be released and winners will be awarded on the occasion.

Besides, programmes from the street to the stadium and Rugby training will kicked off on the occasion.

Moreover, digital hangout programme and an oratory on the topic 'Impact of COVID-19 and ways for solution' will be organised in every province on September 15.

According to Ministry Secretary Yam Kumari Khatiwada, discussions on review of policies related to child rights and future course of action have been scheduled on the same occasion.

Secretary Khatiwasa was of the opinion that child rights issues were not getting proper space in media.

Council executive Director Milan Dharel said that the establishment of structures for protection of child rights was being put in place at the local levels as per the new legal provision.
