6 held for trying to snatch away weapons from Dang police
KATHMANDU: Police on Friday night arrested six persons from Tulsipur of Dang district after they allegedly tried to snatch away weapons from a plain-clothes police team.
One of the suspects has been identified as Sagar Shrestha (33) from Tulsipur Municipality.
The Tulsipur Area Police Office had deployed a two-man team in civvies after it was tipped-off that some people were smuggling sand and construction aggregates.
Police said the six, who were staying at an inn, tried to take Police Head Constable Phalindra Sanjyal and Police Constable Sudeep Budha under control and take away their arms.
In retaliation, the Constable opened fire twice, which also injured a member of the gang.
The bullet has left an injury on a thigh of Dan Bahadur Budha (27), a permanent resident of Simaltar, Rampur-9, and is undergoing treatment at the Rapti Sub-Regional Hospital, police said.
Police said they also impounded the motorbike (Ra 1 Pa 1971) from their possession.
